Today’s Market Opportunities (21/05/2012)

• Futures markets were stronger over the weekend with wheat, corn and cotton up, and soybeans down.
• Wheat markets lead the way with dry weather concerns persisting in the western plains of the US and parts of the Ukraine and Russia, and short covering also added to the positive tone.
• Soybeans were on the wrong end of unwinding soybean corn/wheat spreads which sold them off and supported wheat and corn.
• Domestic markets were trading well with chickpeas delivered Moree buying $540 for a Nov/Dec delivery. Hectare contracts are again scarce with reports of these contracts potentially unavailable until next month.
• Wheat markets were higher overall with Track Newcastle ASW reaching $220 and demand for H2 and APH2 gaining momentum for Brisbane markets.
